Dubai. The Indian politician Amar Singh, who was admitted at Mediclinic Welcare Hospital on Monday during a personal visit to Dubai, was discharged earlier today, Gulf News can confirm.

Singh lost consciousness at Dubai International Airport yesterday, allegedly due to low blood sugar or hypoglycaemia that can cause fainting.

The 57-year-old member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian parliament, and former leader of the Samajwadi Party, a regional political party from the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, was admitted in a critical condition, according to a hospital source.

Dr Paul Sungler, Medical Director of Welcare Hospital, told Gulf News, “Initially the patient was critical. He was under observation overnight. He was discharged in the morning. He left the hospital in good condition.”

Due to patient confidentiality, the hospital couldn’t provide details on Singh’s medical condition.

Reports in the international press suggest that he was en route to Singapore where he was due for a regular health check-up due to a kidney condition.

Gulf News was unable to confirm his departure from Dubai by press deadline.
