Independent diabetes centre to be set up

A special independent centre dedicated to diabetes is in the works, with officials expecting to break ground by December, as part of Dubai's strategic plan to improve health services.

Dubai: A special independent centre dedicated to diabetes is in the works, with officials expecting to break ground by December, as part of Dubai's strategic plan to improve health services.

Qadi Saeed Al Murooshid, director-general of the Dubai Department of Health and Medical Services (Dohms), told Gulf News that the health authority was finalising details with US-based Joslin Diabetes Centre, which will partner with Dohms in the establishment and running of the new centre, to be located near Rashid Hospital.
