Health centre offers one-stop services
A customer service centre at the Ministry of Health here offers a number of medical services, among them a system to monitor the import and export of medicine and other pharmaceutical products.

Abu Dhabi: A customer service centre at the Ministry of Health here offers a number of medical services, among them a system to monitor the import and export of medicine and other pharmaceutical products.
The centre has been offering its services for three months and was officially inaugurated on Sunday by the Minister of Health, Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, during a tour of the facilities.
He said services offered by the centre will help identify and curb the sale of counterfeit medicine in the country. He said there are, for example, many counterfeit herbal products in circulation.
Authorisation
Some of the services at the centre include the authorisation and review of health related advertisements, drug control and pharmaceutical licensing, classification of pharmaceutical products, complementary products and veterinary products, registration of medical devices and registration of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
Mariam Al Rumaithy, head of the centre, told Gulf News the centre currently receives up to 50 clients per day, a mixture of officials, doctors, nurses or potential health providers.
According to Zeid Al Siksek, chief executive officer of the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD), the ministry's centre complements HAAD's services.
Books and novels related to health and policy matters can also be found in a library in the centre.
