Abu Dhabi: The Health Authority-Abu Dhabi, the regulatory body of the health-care sector in the emirate, has announced the launch of the second edition of the Abu Dhabi Medical Distinction Awards to recognise and honour health-care professionals in the emirate for their outstanding achievements.

The nomination this year will not be restricted to health-care facilities and organisations but individuals are also allowed to apply for the awards. The nomination period will be three months, starting from July 15 to October 18.

The scope of the awards has been expanded. Health-care facilities with inpatient and outpatient services, organisations affiliated with academia and voluntary services, one day surgery centres and selected centres are eligible for nomination this year.

Zaid Al Siksek, CEO of the authority, said that he was proud to launch the second edition of the award.

The awards categories include Surgical Performance Distinction Awards, Clinical Performance Distinction Awards, Medical Research Distinction Awards, Medical Teaching Distinction Awards, Allied Health Distinction Awards, Health Administration and Management Distinction Awards, Clinical Diagnostics and Laboratory Distinction Awards, Medical Volunteer Distinction Awards, Public Health and Health Promotion Distinction Awards and Lifetime Achievement Award.
