Enaya health insurance to go electronic for claims

All government employees who are covered by the "Enaya" insurance scheme will soon be able to make claims electronically

Dubai: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) yesterday said all government employees who are covered by the "Enaya" insurance scheme will soon be able to make claims electronically.

"In future, once the mandatory health insurance for Dubai is implemented, e-claims will be the tool for insurance claims and this electronic system will be applicable for the emirate," said Qadi Saeed Al Murooshid, director-general of the DHA.

The move will ensure that claims for all 100,000 government employees who use Enaya insurance will now be electronic, he said.

The head of DHA explained that e-claims will be one of the key strategic initiatives for the health sector.

"It will regulate health insurance, provide information necessary for planning and development and will ultimately improve the quality of service in the emirate," he said.

First phase

The e-claims can be made once the system is online with the help of Dimensions Health Solutions, DHA officials said. The first phase of the project is expected to start in a few months with Enaya and then the system will roll out to all insurance plans in the emirate.

Dr Haidar Al Yousuf, director of health funding at the DHA, said that this would reduce abuse and give the DHA a real time visibility of spending on health.

He added that the mandatory health insurance scheme for Dubai is in the final stages of development and will be implemented shortly. Once implemented, all insurance claims for the emirate of Dubai will become electronic.
