Abu Dhabi: An Emirati and French medical team headed yesterday to Egypt for conducting heart operations of needy patients in the Shaikh Zayed Hospital, using modern technology which is the first of its kind in the region.

The mission of Emirati, Egyptian and French medical team headed by Dr. Adel Al Shamari, Chairman of the Zayed Giving Initiative, comes in the framework of the Humanitarian Giving Initiative implemented by Zayed Initiative.

During the weeklong tour, the medical team will carry out various diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive programme as well as a number of surgeries and endoscopic heart operations along with providing free necessary treatment to the needy patients.

Dr Adel Al Shamari, the Emirati cardiac surgeon, who is also the Head of the Emirati medical team and of the Emirates Cardiology Centre said that the surgical operations will be conducted in the Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Cairo under Zayed Giving Initiative in partnership of the Women General Union.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health, Volunteer Association of Egypt besides Emirates Volunteer Centre in coordination with UAE Embassy in Egypt and the Egyptian Embassy in the state have contributed in the realisation of this philanthropic initiative.

 

Al Shamari added that the medical team’s visit falls under the framework of intensifying efforts of joint cooperation and work in the medical field between the two countries. He said that such initiatives will continue in order to provide medical care to needy patients, as well as carrying out training programmes for medical and technical cadres working in the field of medicine.

 

He added that specialised doctors from France and the UAE will carry out the surgeries because the necessary preparations for Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Egypt were completed. “Preparations included preparing the rooms, intensive care units, as well ensuring that the hospital’s medical and nursing teams are ready,” said Al Shamari.

 

“Two surgery rooms in the hospital have been equipped with state of the art equipment. A number of clinics have also been allocated for patients that will be received by the medical and diagnosis team to diagnose a variety of conditions and determining the appropriate treatment programme for each case.
