Dubai: A state-of-the art tele-radiology and imaging centre - Global Hawk Imaging and Diagnostics (GHID) – was launched in the city yesterday.

The centre, which is the health-care arm of multinational conglomerate, Mulk Holdings, was built at an investment of Dh25 million and is being touted as a one of its kind facility in the Middle East.

The centre will provide facilities for patients to have second opinions from an international panel of doctors who will be able to view the radiology reports simultaneously via video and teleconferencing and provide a learned insight about the diagnosis.

“Our centre will provide the entire range of radiology services – MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, CT scans — for specialised areas such as musculo-skeletal imaging, foetal imaging and imaging of various female pathologies. We provide the 16-slice CT scans for general body scan, 64 dual cardiac CT scanner for fast and accurate diagnosis of cardiac problems which will be non-invasive, unlike the conventional angiography that the patient has to undergo at present. It will help the patient rule out a range of coronary heart diseases,” said Dr Shafi Ul Mulk, director of GHID and Mulk Healthcare division.

“Such a facility will be a financial saver for many patients who will get a second opinion from a panel of learned international doctors in the field at a fraction of the cost and early imaging and constant monitoring will also help in preventive care as it will help patients nip the ailment in the bud,” said Dr Yasmeen Ul Mulk, female medicine and foetal medicine expert at GHID.
