Dar Es Salaam: A charity delegation consisting of cardiac surgeons from the UAE and other countries has arrived in the Tanzanian capital to conduct free heart surgeries for hundreds of patients here.
The delegation, sent by the Zayed Charity Initiative, will perform open heart surgery for those who cannot afford it. There are men, women and children in Tanzania who silently suffer from heart aliments due to a lack of resources.
The Zayed Charity Initiative is a humanitarian voluntary initiative which presents a unique model to alleviate the suffering of the needy from various diseases worldwide.
Through this initiative, doctors and specialist surgeons offer treatments and diagnoses to needy heart patients, blind persons and those with physical challenges. It has struck partnership deals with major university hospitals in the world to train medical cadres.
The initiative complements other UAE medical initiatives which have benefitted millions worldwide. The impact of projects that bear the name of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan can be seen in Egypt, Morocco, Pakistan, Yemen, Mauritania and elsewhere.
Chairman of the board of the UAE Red Crescent Authority Dr Ali Al Ka'abi said that the initiative will complement the compassion of UAE citizens and offer practical help for those who suffer around the world.
Al Ka'abi hailed the hum-anitarian role played by the Emirates World Heart Group (ewhg) in performing heart surgeries in many countries for the benefit of the poor.
World-renowned cardiac surgeon and chairman of the ewhg Dr Adel Al Shameri said that the team of doctors has arrived in Dar Es Salaam and is busy making the necessary preparations to perform the surgeries.
