Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) organised a breast cancer awareness workshop for its staff. The workshop provided staff with important information about the prevention, screening tests for early Detection, and the treatment of breast cancer.

Dr. Mubarak Al Darmaki, ADEC’s Acting Section Manager of Health Management, said that “ADEC organized this workshop as part of its efforts for raising the awareness of its staff, particularly health awareness. We always seek to educate staff on the most common diseases in today’s world and inform them about the prevention and treatment methods. Participants were also briefed on the section’s role in developing and implementing the school health programs. This workshop marks the International Breast Cancer Day and comes in line with the National Campaign against Breast Cancer in an attempt to join forces in promoting health all across the community.

During the workshop, a documentary was screened to present the experiences of women who had breast cancer, but were able to detect and treat it at an early stage. The centers and hospitals providing treatment were also introduced. Participants were provided with the statistics related to breast cancer. Female staff members were advised on the importance of early detection and treatment of breast cancer by conducting breast screening three times a year for those who are less than 40-year old and once a year for those over 40.
