Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, issued yesterday (Monday) a resolution approving the new public transportation fares.

Resolution No 29 of 2014 amends bylaws of resolution No 9 of 2009 regarding unified public transportation fares for the emirate of Dubai.

The new resolution aims to encourage various segments of society to use public transportation through regulation of fare collection in a facilitated manner, which is in line with the government’s plans and leaderships’ directives to transform Dubai into a smart city.

The resolution also alleviates the financial burdens of certain segments such as students and the elderly. It specifies unified fares for zones, prices for the issuance of cards, as well as the types of cards that will be available for public transport users.

The resolution stipulates that the elderly, students and people dependent on social aid will be charged a lower fare that will range from Dh1.50 to Dh3.75 when using the Concession Nol card. It also specifies that children under the age of five and people with special needs will also benefit from these reduced prices.

The table attached to the resolution specifies the prices for every Nol card according to the subscription plan, type of card and zones. Prices on Nol monthly packages with a multi-zone silver pass have been set at Dh350, while an annual pack will cost Dh2,670.
