Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan yesterday received a phone call from Afghan President Hamid Karzai on the death of Shaikh Ahmad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Afghan leader expressed his deep sorrow on the demise of Shaikh Ahmad.

Shaikh Khalifa also received a call from Hamas Political Office Leader Khalid Mesha'al, in which he expressed his deep sorrow on the death of Shaikh Ahmad.

The President received cables of condolences from world leaders, including the Emir of Kuwait, Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Turkish President, Abdullah Gul, Kazakh President, Nursultan Nazarbayev, Mauritanian President, Mohammad Ould Abdul Aziz, Tajik President, Emomali Rahmon, and Turkmen President, Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov.

He also received condolence cables from the Belarusian President, Alexander Lukashenko, Armenian President, Serzh Sargsyan, Vietnamese President, Nguyen Minh Triet's, French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, and Greek President, Karolos Papoulias.

The UAE Ambassador in London, Abdul Rahman Ganem Al Mutaiwe'e, has received condolences from the Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps at the British Royal Palace and representative of Queen Elizabeth, Charles Gray .

Al Mutaiwe'e also received condolences from Dean of the Arab diplomats in Britain, Khalid Al Duwaisan, Kuwaiti Ambassador to the UK and Arab Ambassadors, prominent figures of the Arab community in London and businesspersons. The mourners expressed in the condolence register their profound sorrow on the death of Shaikh Ahmad.
