Dubai: The UAE and Turkmenistan will strengthen economic and technical cooperation.

The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding in Abu Dhabi yesterday to open new channels for improved ties.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday received Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov and the two leaders held talks on developing bilateral relations in all fields. The talks were held in the presence of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also received the Turkmenistan President. The Crown Prince said the UAE would continue its efforts to support Turkmen plans to enhance educational, health, social, and transport services.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed the steps aimed at activating cooperation between the UAE and Turkmenistan.
