UAE to monitor occupational health and safety
The Ministerial Service Council has recommended the setting up of a national authority for inspection and occupational health and safety to implement labour laws and ensure the compliance of companies with occupational health and safety rules.
The council made the recommendation during its regular meeting in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
The meeting was headed by Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Deputy Chairman of the Council.
Supervisory role
The council suggested the establishment of the authority within six months. The new body should play a supervisory role to ensure a safe work environment free of occupational hazards.
