UAE to host first global human resources seminar
The conference and exhibition would raise the profile of the UAE's human capital, locally and internationally, says minister of education

Dubai: Population policies, employment opportunities, sources of labour and the so-called "brain drain" are issues to be explored at an international conference to be held in the UAE.
The first International Human Resources Conference and exhibition (IHRC) is to be held in Dubai, organised by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) in January 2011.
Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, Minister of Education and Chairman of Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, said: "The conference and exhibition would raise the profile of the UAE's human capital, locally and internationally".
The conference and exhibition is to be held at the Dubai international Conventions and Exhibitions centre from January 19 to 20, entitled: "Human Resources: The sustainable capital for the new era".
Youth population
Al Qutami said the event will be held annually in order to sustain and build on the knowledge shared and partnerships created every year. "The IHRC reiterates our determination to make a distinctive mark through the most powerful of our assets — the youth population," he said.
"The Mena [Middle East and North Africa] region has a youth population of over 200 million people below the age of 25 years. They are raw talent, waiting to be moulded and groomed to take up important roles in shaping the society.
"The strategic plan of the Federal Government for 2011-2013 underscores four key approaches in human resources development — to establish a comprehensive human resource strategy for the country; to put in an effective plan for human resources management; to retain qualified manpower; and enhance the ability and skills of employees."
Nasser Thani Al Hameli, CEO of HR Policies for FAHR, said: "The conference will bring together authors and speakers from the field and will serve as a platform where they will debate and discuss options that decision makers can use to handle issues including brain drain".
