Abu Dhabi: The UAE enjoys inimitable opportunity to take advantage of innovation, creativity in education as an asset to enhance the UAE’s sustainable economic and educational goals, Humaid Mohammad Al Qatami, UAE Minister of Education, said on Sunday at the opening of INSEAD’s Global Business Leaders Conference in Abu Dhabi.

“The government of the UAE has delegated the ministry to further innovation and creativity as tools for better economic growth and for sustainable human development which is in line with the Abu Dhabi Vision of 2030 for a diversified economy based on human capital as a major investment,” said Al Qatami.

He added that education has helped the country to build a better future for its people, and innovation and creativity processes in education are a must for development.

“Innovation culture plays a key role in the development of many countries. We in the UAE focus on skills required in the 21st century and these skills are included in our curricula at schools nowadays to enhance students’ innovation,” explained the minister.

The UAE is a link between the East and the West and this requires working continuously to safeguard better education to boost the competitive advantage of the country.

“The UAE economy will be based on knowledge in the near future as a future pioneer vision and strategy by its government to integrate education and innovation to be amongst the top countries in terms of creativity and innovation by heavily investing in human capital. Innovation has become a platform for quality education that is able to respond to challenges,” stressed the minister.

He remarked the necessity to do the best to reach sustainable human development and to keep up with the changing world.

“The ministry has adopted a comprehensive plan to prepare qualified national staff to respond to the global development’s needs. This plan of continuous improvement and development is based on a series of strategic goals representing the national ambitions to upgrade the whole education system,” concluded Al Qatami.
