Manila: The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) delegation to the Philippines, led by Mohammad Abdullah Al Haj Al Zarouni, has discussed with the Philippines’ Red Cross Society the best ways to deliver relief from the UAE to families affected by Typhoon Bopha (known in the Philippines as Typhoon Pablo) late last year.

The meeting was attended by the UAE ambassador to the Philippines, Mousa Abdul Wahid Abdul Gaffar Al Khaja, along with a number of Filipino officials.

Al Zarouni said the RCA is in full readiness to dispatch relief material and said the agency was responding to calls made by international humanitarian bodies to provide relief to help affected people rebuild their lives.

The category 5 ‘super’ typhoon caused widespread destruction at the time, with more than 1,000 deaths recorded, and tens of thousands rendered homeless.
