Abu Dhabi: The UAE is keen to support all regional and international efforts aiming at achieving security, peace and stability in the region.
The statement was made by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, during a meeting with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
Rice arrived in Abu Dhabi on Monday to meet in closed-door meetings with foreign ministers and senior officials from six Gulf Arab states along with Egypt, Iraq and Jordan.
Rice briefed Shaikh Mohammad on the outcome of Geneva talks on Iran's nuclear programme, and the objectives of her regional tour.
Shaikh Mohammad hoped that diplomatic solutions and peaceful means would prevail to resolve problems in the region.
He discussed with Rice bilateral ties and ways to develop them in the presence of Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister.
They also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments and the situation in Iraq and Lebanon, as well as efforts aiming to achieve a comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
Rice was to get a face-to-face briefing from US Under Secretary of State William Burns on the talks between world powers and Iran on its disputed nuclear programme.
Iran was given two weeks to answer calls to suspend its nuclear activities or face tougher sanctions.
