Mohammad Bin Zayed reappointed as Chairman of the Council
Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Sunday issued two decrees related to the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
The first decree reappoints General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, as Chairman of the Council.
The second decree reconstitutes the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
The reconstitution was issued in accordance with Law No. 1 of 1974, which stipulates that the governmental body of the emirate of Abu Dhabi must be reconstituted once every two years.
After reviewing Law No. 1 of 1974 and its amendments, and Emiri Decree No. 7 of 2008, pertaining to appointing a Chairman for the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, the first article of the current decree appoints Shaikh Mohammad as Chairman. The second article stipulates that the decree comes into effect from the date of its issuance and is to be published in the official gazette.
The second decree reconstitutes the council.
The council chaired by Shaikh Mohammad, with Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the Vice Chairman, will include Shaikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Shaikh Sultan Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, Mohammad Ahmad Al Bawardi, Security General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority.
Members also include Dr. Ahmad Mubarak Al Mazroui, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority and Deputy Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Hamad Al Hurr Al Suwaidi, Head of the Department of Finance, Nasser Ahmad Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, Abdullah Rashid Khalaf Al Otaiba, Chairman of the Department of Transport, Major General Obaid Salem Al Katbi, Deputy Director General of Abu Dhabi Police, Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khayili, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Education Council, and Majid Ali Al Mansouri, Director of the Municipality Affairs Department.
The decrees come into effect from the date of their issuance and are to be published in the official gazette.
