Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered urgent humanitarian aid for people affected by the wave of cold and frost in Kazakhstan.

The President has instructed Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, to provide relief materials and food to people affected by the cold weather in Kazakhstan.

The move came in response to the appeal of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the Kazakh Red Crescent Society, to extend emergency assistance to the people of Kazakhstan.

The UAE Red Crescent Authority’s office in Kazakhstan will provide relief materials from the local market in cooperation with the Kazakh Red Crescent Society.

The northern, eastern and central Kazakhstan has been subject to a wave of cold and frost at 40 degrees below zero that resulted in cutting many electricity lines and power sources.
