UAE President leaves for Oman to take part in the GCC summit

President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan left here on Monday afternoon for Oman, heading the UAE delegation to take part in the 29th summit of the heads of member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The summit, which opens later on Monday in the Omani capital, Muscat, ends on Tuesday, December 30.

Al Ain: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan left here on Monday afternoon for Oman, heading the UAE delegation to take part in the 29th summit of the heads of member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The summit, which opens later on Monday in the Omani capital, Muscat, ends on Tuesday, December 30.

Shaikh Khalifa was seen off by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Others are Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region, Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, a number of Shaikhs, ministers and senior officials.

The high-level delegation accompanying the President includes Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Interior Minister, Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Finance Affairs, Ahmad Juma Al Za'abi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Mohammad Ali Al Aseimi, UAE Ambassador to Oman.

The GCC leaders will discuss a number of important issues pertaining to the GCC joint actions in all avenues and the ways to fortify the unified March to achieve this goal. They will review the recommendations made by the ministerial council of the GCC and various committees, and will take appropriate decisions.

The GCC heads of states will also review the current developments on the political and economic fronts at the Arab and regional levels as well as their repercussions on the region.
