Dubai: The UAE has launched a new centre for agricultural training and development as part its efforts to promote concepts of feasibly economic agricultural projects that increase agricultural produce and build capacities of farmers so as to run development projects properly.

Dr Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahd, Minister of Environment and Water, said the ministry is keen to train farmers and raise their awareness in a way that contributes to sustainability of the agricultural sector, improve of sustainable integrated management of resources, limit use of pesticides, ensure food safety and sustain local production as part of the ministry’s strategic objectives under Vision 2021.

The minister affirmed the ministry’s commitment to heighten agricultural and environmental awareness, and develop administrative and technical capacity of farmers. “The centre will enhance the agricultural sector’s ability to address challenges,’’ he added.

In 2014, he said farmers and technicians will get training on hydroponics and date palm diseases in next September.
