Dubai: Women will be represented in the boards of all government bodies and corporations, according to a resolution issued by the Cabinet on Sunday.
Women’s representation in government company boards has been made mandatory during the Cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The Cabinet approved a federal law to support small and medium size enterprises (SME), which aims to streamline the entrepreneurship sector, boost SME’s of Emirati citizens, and encourage innovation, creativity and research as well as moving towards knowledge-driven economy.
The SME law also aims to increase the UAE competitiveness and enhance its regional and international status as a regional entrepreneurship centre.
Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, were present at the meeting.
