His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has visited the Dubai Courts, where he was briefed about the electronic information guides.

Accompanied by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Mohammad also inspected the courtrooms and offices and listened to some people at the court.

During his visit, a ceremony was held in the conference hall at which two new Emirati judges, Mohammad Obaid Sulaiman Al Mutawa and Ahmad Al Hajj Mohammad, were sworn in before him.

During his tour, he also met a number of Emirati members of the UAE Law Society in Dubai. The society has 500 Emirati members.

New building

He also inspected the design of the proposed new building for the personal status court.

At the end of his visit, Shaikh Mohammad visited the personal status and the room for registration of marriages. He urged the judges and other court employees to work hard to avoid mistakes and to speed up the settlement of cases. According to the Director General of Dubai Courts, Dr Ahmad Bin Hazim Al Suwaidi, 190 judges work at Dubai Courts, of whom 63 are Emiratis.

The judges hear over 70,000 cases a year, he said.
