Dubai: Dubai Smart Government (DSG) is on course to achieve its objective before the deadline, a senior government official said.

Ahmad Bin Humaidan, DSG Director-General, told Gulf News that the DSG department will have a mega stand at Gitex Technology Week next month, displaying its achievements as well as future plans.

“We are on course to achieve all our objectives. A majority of our work has been done and we are confident that before the deadline of May 2015 set by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum [Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai] to convert all Dubai Government services into smart services, we will be ready,” said Bin Humaidan.

He added that the 34th edition of Gitex Technology Week 2014, to be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) between October 12 and 16, will be a great opportunity to showcase DSG’s work.

“It will be an opportunity for the people to see what Smart Living actually means. We will take people through the journey of smart living, especially visitors who will be able to experience this right from the moment they step into the airport until they reach their hotels and from there on to our stand,” said Bin Humaidan.

DSG announced that as many as 37 government entities are participating in the event with the addition of five new ones this year.

All the government entities will be linked and demonstrate how an integrated system works on a single platform through the smart government system.

The stand, the largest of its kind in the history of DSG’s participation in the event, will be spread across 3,800 square metres at Shaikh Saeed Hall 3.

Apart from their eServices, all the participating government entities will showcase their latest smart solutions and apps under one roof in addition to many surprises pertaining to new and distinguished smartphone apps.

To keep track of all that’s happening and build up towards the event, DSG has launched a daily TV programme titled Smart Government to be transmitted on Sama Dubai channel after the Al Multaqa programme at 8.40pm.

DSG has also created a dedicated website, http://gitex.dubai.ae, while the social media team will publicise the event on Twitter (@SmartGov_Dubai), Facebook (dubaismartgovernment) and Instagram (dubaismartgov).
