Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued instructions to increase the minimum monthly salary of Sharjah government employees to Dh11,000, and set Dh11,000 as a minimum monthly payment for retirees.

The move is part of three initiatives launched by Dr Shaikh Sultan to provide a stable and decent life to Emiratis.

To this effect, Dr Shaikh Sultan has ordered the allocation of Dh70 million to cover pay increases in a move to ensure both employees and retirees enjoy a dignified life.

Tareq Sultan Bin Khadem, member of the Executive Council and Chairman of the Sharjah Human Resources Department, said under the first initiative Emirati government employees will be paid a minimum monthly salary of Dh11, 000. Employees in job grades from 8-14 will benefit from the new salary structure. This initiative will help improve the living standards of the employees and their families.

The second initiative states that retirees from Sharjah government will be paid a minimum payment of Dh11, 000, instead of the previous payment of Dh10,000. A total of 600,000 families will benefit from this gesture.

The third initiative provides for the integration of an additional transport allowance, which is given to employees, into the total salary, to be part of the salary account registered with the General Pension and Social Security Authority, so that Emirati employees can benefit when they retire.
