Abu Dhabi: Shaikha Alyazia Bint Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan is set to showcase her work on Tuesday at the Abu Dhabi Art Fair in Saadiyat Cultural District on Saadiyat Island with the participation of prominent artists from around the world.

The five-day exclusive showcase is being featured by Artspace Gallery and will display the artist’s two latest collections: The Spontaneity Series and the Carrom Station Series.

In her refreshing Spontaneity Series, the artist looks at what it means to truly let go and be led by your emotions. The artist brilliantly captures the essence of spontaneity in this series by using the flight of a paper airplane. In the Carrom Station Series, the artist carefully explores the combination of this traditional game with modern game elements.

The series takes the wooden carrom board and matches it with an electronic game box, thus bridging the classic and the modern. The result is an exquisite rendition of old meets new, in the form of a fusion game which also embodies the undertones of local and international culture.

Shaikha Alyazia’s artistic talents were apparent at a young age. She has since developed a unique approach in her paintings which are characterised by cultural reflections joined together with canvas transformations. She has participated in numerous art exhibitions and events and has collaborated on various occasions with the Ministry of Culture. This will not be the first partnership between Shaikha Alyazia and Artspace as her ground-breaking first solo exhibition titled “Dialogue” was held at the gallery in 2011.

Artspace Gallery is dedicated to the promotion of contemporary Middle Eastern art and artists. With its two locations in Dubai and London, Artspace caters to a vast and diverse global collector base.

Sponsors of the event include the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) and the American University of Sharjah. ADCB noted that it is committed to supporting worthy initiatives that enrich the local community and encourage the expression of ambition and progress in the UAE.

In a statement, the ADCB said that it is delighted to partner with Artspace in this wonderful exhibition and initiative in promoting local art and expression. The UAE government has invested heavily in developing the artistic and cultural landscape in Abu Dhabi and the bank firmly believes that lending support to local artists and raising the profile of their work will in turn promote Abu Dhabi as a rich cultural destination.
