Sharjah: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent a cable of condolences to Dr. Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on the death of his sister, Shaikha Alia Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, who passed away Monday morning.

Shaikha Alia is the sister of the Ruler of Sharjah, mother of Shaikh Abdullah and Shaikh Mohammad Bin Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi and Shaikh Abdul Rahman Bin Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi.

In the cable, Shaikh Khalifa expressed his heartfelt condolences and sympathy to Dr. Shaikh Sultan.

Shaikh Khalifa also sent a similar cable to Shaikh Abdullah Bin Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, on the death of his mother.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, sent similar cables of condolences to the Sharjah Ruler and Deputy Ruler.

Similar cables were also sent by Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi of Fujairah, Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi of Ajman, Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi of Ras Al Khaimah, and Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla of Umm Al Quwain.

General Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also sent a cable of condolences to Dr. Shaikh Sultan and Shaikh Abdullah.

The Court of Dr. Shaikh Sultan on Monday mourned the death of Shaikha Alia.

The Court extended heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the Ruler of Sharjah and the Al Qasimi family, praying to Allah Almighty to grant the deceased a place in paradise and bestow patience on her family.

The funeral prayers were performed at the King Faisal Mosque in Sharjah yesterday after Al Asr (evening) prayers, followed by the burial that was held at the Jubail graveyard.

Shaikh Abdullah will receive condolences for three days at Al Badie Palace in Sharjah.

The Court also announced an official mourning period of seven days starting from today, during which the flags will be flown at half-mast in the emirate.
