Abu Dhabi:  President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday received his e-passport from Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, at Al Dhiyafa Palace. 

General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, was present.

Shaikh Khalifa expressed his admiration of the new technology in which an electronic version of a passport can be issued. 

He said that this achievement is a step towards implementing the governmental strategy to raise the level of governmental work to global standards. 

He stressed that these new procedures and initiatives aim to enhance the UAE's approach in the field of security to higher standards that keep abreast with modern technologies used in prestigious countries around the world. 

Shaikh Khalifa reaffirmed his support for developments that achieve progress and comfort for the nation and its citizens, especially since the UAE is capable of entering a new level of development and growth that is based on knowledge and modern science. 

He said that such initiatives serve this objective, and places the UAE among countries that use high quality of advanced technologies to ensure the fulfillment of its security-related procedures.

He expressed his appreciation for the leaders, officials and members of the Ministry of Interior, pointing out that this achievement is a motive for exerting more efforts and shouldering responsibilities for the nation, and its security and stability. 

Shaikh Saif said that the e-passport project is another pioneering project for the country's march of modernization and urbanization under the leadership of Shaikh Khalifa alongside His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates. 

He pointed out that the new e-passport facilitates traveling procedures for Emiratis while providing the highest standards and specifications of security. 

Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region, Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and other Shaikhs and senior officials were present.
