Abu Dhabi: The Ministerial Council of Services on Sunday discussed a memorandum put forward by the Ministry of Education on the abolishment of the system of branching for the literary and science streams in Cycle 3 in federal schools.

The proposal calls for merging the two streams and envisages measures and learning outcomes as part of a national plan to reform the learning process and improve learning outcomes in each school level so as to generate the results required for the job market.

The meeting, chaired by Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, at the Presidential Palace, also covered the mechanism for admitting and enrolling students in government universities and the budget needed for that purpose.

The Council reviewed three recommendations by the Federal National Council regarding the policy of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, supervision of property assessment for granting real estate loans and committees to be set up to provide better services to people with disabilities.

A memo presented by the Ministry of Economy regarding the first half-year report on the progress of the free trade agreement negotiations between the GCC and other economic blocs also came under review.

The council looked into other topics on its agenda and took appropriate action on them.
