Sayegh, Al Sarsi sworn in as judges

President urges them to be just and fair

Abu Dhabi: Two new judges were sworn in before President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Monday. The President instructed the judicial community to speed up the process of looking into cases and that they must issue their rulings in compliance with Islamic Sharia and laws in the country.

"The UAE is the state of justice, right and equality which appreciates the role of judges in bringing justice, especially that the supremacy of the law is above all other considerations," Shaikh Khalifa said.

The new judges are Dr Ahmad Sayegh, appointed as a judge at the Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal; and Adviser Saleh Mohammad Al Sarsi, appointed as a judge at the Fujairah Federal Court of Appeal.

The President wished the judges success in discharging their mission and achieving justice without either fear or favouritism, and to set an example of fairness, neutrality and dedication in their work. He urged them to only fear God and adhere to honour, conscience and law while issuing rulings .

The judges thanked Shaikh Khalifa and promised him that they would discharge their assignments faithfully and honestly. The swearing in ceremony was attended by a number of shaikhs and senior officials.
