Al Ain: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday presented certificates to 460 graduates from the UAE University in Al Ain.
Shaikh Mohammad presented the bachelor's degree to 460 graduates and master's degrees to 25 and congratulated them on their academic achievement.
He urged them to pursue higher education and empower themselves with knowledge and science to serve their nation better, especially that the UAE's leadership gives priority to education and pays great attention to developing the education sector.
In a speech addressing the graduates, Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of the UAE University, paid tribute to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his ongoing support to the university and its progress.
He pledged that the university will remain a high scientific edifice that supports the UAE's approach for knowledge-based economy and boosts its associations and contact with society organisations to provide them with highly qualified national cadres.
Shaikh Nahyan presented a memento to Shaikh Mohammad in recognition of his supportive efforts to the university and his keenness to be present at ceremonies to mark the graduation of consecutive batches.
The graduates from the college of medicine took the oath before Shaikh Mohammad, pledging to perform their profession faithfully and honestly. The ceremony was attended by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, Shaikh Rashid Bin Saud Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region, in addition to shaikhs and parents of the graduates.
Shaikh Mohammad also attended a lunch banquet hosted by Dr Shaikh Saeed Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan on the occasion of the graduation of his son from the UAE University.
