President’s Initiative Committee grants 207 houses to Emiratis

Abu Dhabi: A total of 207 Emiratis will get houses in various emirates, the Follow up Committee of Initiatives of UAE President has announced.

The committee has also released a preliminary list of 554 eligible applicants for houses and asked them to report to the Ministry of Public Works to complete their transactions for final approval.

The Committee allocated these houses after a thorough review of a study commissioned by the Court of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, which contained lists of prospective homeowners.

Ahmad Juma Al Za’abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Committee, said the houses were granted to applicants who satisfied all requirements and criteria for getting government houses in implementation of the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide citizens with the highest standards of living conditions and establish modern infrastructure across the emirates, and the close follow up by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

“The committee will spare no effort to implement the Presidential directives, which we consider as a road map in discharging its duties,” he added.

At its recent meeting at the Presidential Court, the committee approved the awarding of five projects worth Dh100 million for housing, roads, water, sewerage and health.

The committee approved the awarding of two contracts for building 100 houses for citizens at Al Hamra Island area in Ras Al Khaimah at a total cost of Dh83.8 million and 12 houses worth Dh8.9 million at Masafi in Fujairah. Completion of construction of the first and second housing projects will take place in 480 and 400 days, respectively.

A one-year contract will be awarded for engineering, consulting and supervision services for phase 1 of the Khor Fakkan western ring road.

The committee also endorsed the awarding of a Dh 3.1 million contract for expansion of Mamdouh Lake Dam in Ras Al Khaimah. The project is expected to be completed in 150 days. It also approved the awarding of a contract for design and supervision of the waste water collection network in Al Hamra island area and waste water treatment station for a plant at Al Harai in Khor Fakkan.

The cost of design and supervision of the two stations was estimated at Dh691,423 and Dh360,000 respectively while the cost of design of networks in both areas was estimated at Dh266,200. The committee is currently building 100 houses in both areas.

The committee also approved awarding a contract for supply and installation of mammography devices at a total cost of Dh2.6 million.
