Plans focus on more efficient health care

The Federal Health Authority has revealed the features of its health-care plans for the UAE which aim at quality medical attention for all

Dubai: The Federal Health Authority (FHA) has revealed the features of its health-care plans for the UAE, which were reviewed by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The FHA said the new health care structure was designed to make the nation's health care system more efficient and competitive, and represented a key step in the government's strategy to ensure excellent medical care for all.

Shaikh Mohammad attended the FHA's presentation, accompanied by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

The presentation was made by Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Health and Chairman of the FHA Board of Directors, and assistants at the Executive Office at Emirates Towers.

Another presentation, by Head of the Authority's Founding Committee Dr Nariman Al Mulla, and Deputy CEO of the Establishmental Services at the Ministry of Health Khalid Lootah, outlined the FHA's vision towards developing the infrastructure in hospitals and health care centres in the northern emirates.

Standards

The presentation also pointed out that these services must go hand in hand with the UAE's comprehensive development, and maintain the same standards of quality.

The presentation, prepared by a team headed by Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Reem Ebrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State; and Ohoud Al Roumi, Director General of Prime Minister's Office; introduced and discussed the health Accreditation Programme for health centres affiliated with the Ministry of Health.

The ministry would in future be under the umbrella of the FHA. The presenters added that the programme would include the best international health care practices for UAE nationals and residents.

Dr Hassan stressed the importance of strengthening the ongoing partnership between the FHA and the private health sector. The FHA said it will set up an ambulance service, which would include a fleet of modern vehicles, fully equipped with physicians, nurses and advanced medical equipment for the care of critically ill patients.

Shaikh Mohammad blessed the authority's plans, pledging his full support to the country's health sector.
