Abu Dhabi:  Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, issued a resolution setting up a committee to follow up the directive of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan regarding the citizenship applications of children born to Emirati women married to foreigners.

Resolution No 27 of 2011 stipulates that the committee will be responsible for enumerating children born to Emiratis and implementing rules and conditions for them to obtain citizenship. The committee will forward relevant proposals to the President.

The committee will be chaired by the Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs with its members including representatives from the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Supreme National Security Council, national security body and the Ministry of Interior.

The resolution also gives the chairman of the committee the right to appoint qualified individuals as members to help implement the committee's agenda.

Debt settlements

The resolution is to be implemented by the Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs, and comes into effect from the date of its issuance.

Shaikh Mansour also issued Resolution No. 28 of 2011 setting up a committee to follow up the resolution of the President regarding the setting up of a fund to settle the debts of Emiratis with limited income.

The resolution stipulates that the Higher Committee of the Fund will be chaired by a representative from the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and will include among its members representatives from the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, Abu Dhabi Department of Finance, UAE Central Bank, and Abu Dhabi's Judicial Department.

The resolution also gives the chairman of the committee the right to appoint qualified individuals as members to help carry out the committee's duties. It is worth noting that the fund will only be responsible for settling debts for cases specified in the resolution issued on December 2, 2011.
