Dubai: Five executive council sectional committees have been established to streamline government work in Dubai.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, set up the new panels.

These include the Economic Development Committee, to be chaired by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and CEO of Emirates airline and Group. The committee will draw and suggest economic policies and tackle issues related to industry, trade, financial market, free zones, special development areas and government investment.

The second is the Security and Justice Committee, chaired by Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police Chief. The Social Development Committee is to be chaired by Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Director of the Department of Residency and Foreigners' Affairs in Dubai.

Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, will chair the Infrastructure Committee, and the Health and Safety Committee is to be chaired by Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality.

The sectional committees will contribute in backing the work of the executive council to carry out its tasks in the best way possible, in addition to enhancing the decision making process, reviewing suggested programmes and studies to develop each sector and coordinating between the work of the government and committees to ensure harmony in their activities.

The tasks of each sectional committee will include the revision and evaluation of policies and initiatives related to the committee's work, all of which comprise Dubai's strategic plan. In addition, the suggested initiatives and development policies of each committee will be taken to the executive council for approval.
