Dubai: The UAE Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Charter for National Values and Ethics which aims to raise a generation of Emiratis who are aware of their responsibilities towards their nation, families and society.
The charter was approved during a Cabinet meeting at the Union House in Dubai chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The charter identifies the concept of patriotism and its forms, as well as key characteristics, values, ethics and skills that should be adopted by Emiratis.
The charter aims to put in place a crystal-clear outline for an Emirati citizen’s character in a way that reflects his or her culture, values, traditions, heritage and Islamic beliefs.
Ahmad Al Jarwan, a member of the education and youth committee of the Federal National Council, said the charter will help raise next Emirati generations who are productive, motivated and compassionate to contribute to building the modern, developed country they aspire to.
“Passing on our values and traditions to next generations should be a joint responsibility among the family, schools and other educational institutions,” he said.
Hamad Al Rahoumi, also a member of the committee, agreed and said instilling the Emirati values and traditions will help next generations cope with future challenges, especially those of the population structure of the UAE.
