Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Municipality has warned of the health consequences resulting from resorting to alternative medicine through interpretations and tips from people who do not have sufficient experience in these fields, which can cause a lot of health problems if taken from people who are non-specialists.
Engineer Abdul Aziz Zu’rub, Director of Environment, Health and Safety in the municipality, said at the opening of a lecture — organised by the municipality in collaboration with the Sharjah International Holistic Health Centre under the title of Holistic Medicine and the correct criteria to use cupping as a treatment and prevention — that the municipality is keen on the health and safety of the community.
He called for the concerted efforts of the community, the municipality, and the competent authorities to address the health risks arising from wrongful use and misconceptions about dealing with holistic medicine, specifically false and exaggerated opinions on cupping both in terms of prevention of disease or as treatment of others.
