Dubai: The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department has received the Ahl Al Sunna mosque in Zabeel 2, and Nadi Al Shabab mosque in Al Mamzar area.

Dr Mohammad Saeed Bin Da’ar Al Muhairi, Head of the Mosque Receiving Committee, said that the Ahl Al Sunna mosque was built by Abdullah Khalifa Dain in the Fatimid style. The mosque, he added, is able to accommodate 635 worshippers, while the women’s quarters is enough to accommodate 222 women. The mosque’s minaret is 13.1 metres high, with a dome on top over a square base. The mosque will open shortly.

He added that the Nadi Al Shabab mosque was built according to the local style. The mosque can accommodate 472 worshippers, while its Ewan area is enough for 104 worshippers.

The Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai is the first sponsor of mosques in the emirate and encourages all donators to turn over their mosques to the department to take care of and follow up in line with the directives of the wise leadership in the country.
