Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, viewed summaries on the educational strategy in Dubai, “Dubai the Model Centre” , “Dubai the international Islamic Centre for Halal certificates”, and “Dubai Government Excellence Programme.”
Shaikh Mohammad viewed the summaries when he chaired on Wednesday the Executive Council meeting at Emirates Towers in the presence of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and First Deputy Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
Shaikh Mohammad listened to a presentation given by Abdullah Al Sheibani, Secretary General of Dubai Executive Council, on key aspects of the education strategy which was achieved in two main phases thanks to the effective partnership between the relevant bodies in the emirate — General Secretariat of the Council, Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Dubai Education Zone, and the Ministry of Education.
The strategy features data analysis and conducting interviews with students, teaching staff and students’ parents, as well as field visits to higher education institutes to gauge the opinion of students and teachers. The strategy deals with the main challenges facing the education sector, and outlined the results of Emirati students. The strategy defines four scenarios to tackle the needs of various categories of Emirati students and improving the quality of education in a manner that complements the progress experienced by the country at various levels.
Shaikh Mohammad was also briefed on the document of the Dubai Model Centre for Government Services in several sectors, most notably the government service sector. The document demonstrates that 75 per cent of Dubai Government’s budget goes to improving government services. The document classifies main services in 12 major government bodies.
The meeting also touched on the document of Dubai the international Islamic Centre for Halal certificates. The document defines ‘Halal certification body’ as a religious body or a company specialised in stating that the commodity is free of anything that contradicts Islamic Sharia.
Shaikh Mohammad praised the council’s efforts under the chairmanship of Shaikh Hamdan, and all its affiliated committees and teams. He stressed the importance of developing mechanisms of cooperation and coordination between the council, government departments and bodies to achieve the absolute best standards in all sectors, especially the services sector.
Shaikh Mohammad gave the green light for the presented programmes and studies prepared by the council, which serve Emiratis, expatriates and the national economy, and further enhances the reputation of the UAE at the regional and international levels.
