Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday received ministers and officials taking part in the first global conference on UN Partnership for Action on Green Economy.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were present.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed the officials, wished them a pleasant stay and success in achieving the conference’s desired objectives. The conference is being organised by the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water in cooperation with various UN bodies.

The officials expressed their gratitude for the UAE’s initiative in organising the conference, which will help officials discuss best practices for developing a green economy, and acts as a platform for the exchange of expertise between countries. During the event, officials will also touch on their respective country’s capabilities and ways to utilise them in the implementation of policies that will help understand the economic, social and environmental benefits of a green economy on the international scene.

The officials praised the experience of the UAE, particularly Dubai, in spreading a culture of green buildings, which have a positive effect on public health and environmental preservation as well as lessening pollution in cities and industrial areas.

The meeting was attended by Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahd, Minister of Environment and Water, Suhail Mohammad Al Mazroui, Minister of Energy, and other officials.
