Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday received Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim community, at Zabeel Palace.
Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, attended the meeting.
Shaikh Mohammad and Syedna Mufaddal exchanged views on a range of humanitarian and Islamic issues with emphasis on promoting a culture of inter-faith tolerance and peaceful co-existence among various faiths and sects while shunning fanaticism, selfishness and extremism that distort the image of Islam as a religion of peace, love and tolerance.
The spiritual leader of the Bohra community expressed appreciation and gratitude to Shaikh Mohammad for the care bestowed by the government of Dubai upon his community, which has a strong presence in the business sector and thus contributes to the growth and prosperity of the local economy.
Syedna Mufaddal praised the spirit of tolerance, co-existence and equality that prevails in the UAE under its wise leadership. The UAE society highlighted by its diverse cultures, religions and ethnicities presents a bright model for human and social harmony and co-existence without any discrimination, Syedna Mufaddal said.
Also present were Mohammad Ahmad Al Murr, Speaker of the Federal National Council, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, and a number of Shaikhs, ministers and senior civilian and military officials.
