Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi yesterday held talks on bilateral relations and their support for efforts to root out terrorism.

Earlier, Al Sissi received Shaikh Mohammad, who is currently on a visit to Egypt, and they discussed issues that concern both countries and the latest regional and international developments.

Welcoming Shaikh Mohammad and his delegation, the Egyptian leader expressed his delight at meeting Shaikh Mohammad again, to explore ways to enhance the relations between the two brotherly countries.

Shaikh Mohammad conveyed greetings from President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his wishes for Egypt’s leadership and people, to achieve progress and prosperity.

Shaikh Mohammad underlined both leaderships’ keenness to further bolster their strong ties in the best interests of both nations.

Shaikh Mohammad reaffirmed that the UAE, under the leadership of Shaikh Khalifa, will continue to support Egypt until it regains its position and be able to face challenges and fulfil the ambitions and aspirations of the Egyptian people.

“The UAE’s stand by Egypt stems from our strong belief in Egypt’s crucial role at both regional and international levels, as well as due to its influential position as the security valve of the Arab region and people,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

He also referred to Egypt’s constructive role in supporting efforts aiming at achieving stability in the region and combating terrorism, and expressed his confidence that Egypt would regain its vital position and leading role in the region.with the support of its people and national institutions.

They also discussed coordination and ways to enhance economic and commercial relations, driven by both leaderships’ support and interest in achieving the common strategic interests of both countries and people.

The two leaders also explored plans and work to boost forging strategic partnerships between Emirati and Egyptian organisations and agencies operating in various sectors.
