Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday received a UK parliamentary delegation at the Al Bahar Palace.

Shaikh Mohammad received three representatives from the Labour party, a representative from the Liberal Democrats party, the Shadow Secretary of Defence and Shadow Minister for North Africa and the Middle East.

Shaikh Mohammad praised the strong relations between the UAE and UK in all fields. He emphasised the UAE leadership’s keenness to further enhance these relations to serve the mutual interests of both countries and their peoples. Mohammad stressed the importance of increasing exchanged visits between parliamentary delegations from both countries in order to boost UAE-UK relations to wider avenues and exchanging views on topics of mutual interest.

Mohammad then briefed the delegation on the UAE’s vision for comprehensive development and efforts for developmental achievements in all fields under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Shaikh Mohammad also stressed the UAE’s keen interest in investing in natural resources, and said that the wise UAE leadership has placed the qualification and development of national human resources at the forefront of its priorities, which has led the UAE to the high status it currently enjoys.

The delegation was then briefed on the UAE’s views on a number of current issues and topics of mutual concern. Recent developments on the regional and international level were also discussed.

The parliamentary delegation emphasised the UK’s keenness to further enhance relations with the UAE. They praised the UAE’s wise policies, the vital role its plays on the international level, as well as the level of achieved progress and development.

The meeting was attended by Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Mohammad Ahmad Al Murr, Speaker of the Federal National Council, Dominic Jeremy, UK Ambassador to the UAE, and other shaikhs and senior officials.
