Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday received an Australian parliamentary delegation.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed the delegation, and expressed his wish that the visit would contribute to enhancing relations between the UAE and Australia.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations in various areas, such as economy, education, culture and energy. Shaikh Mohammad stressed that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is keen on extending bridges of cooperation and building strong friendly relations with countries and their peoples by implementing joint programmes and projects that will benefit everyone.

Shaikh Mohammad pointed out that the developing pace of bilateral relations during the past few years in all areas is an indication that distance between countries is no longer an obstacle that can stand in the way of desires, aspirations and political determination. He said that this is reflected in the development of the outstanding relations between the UAE and Australia.

Shaikh Mohammad expressed his optimism that the coming period will witness more cooperation with Australia, especially as both countries are harnessing their capabilities to plan a better future for their peoples, using a similar vision and strategy that place people as the key aspect of development.

Shaikh Mohammad wished the Australian delegation success as they acquaint themselves with the UAE’s experience in social and economic development and the creation of an atmosphere of cultural coexistence for UAE residents that is based on love, respect and tolerance, which are sentiments echoed by Emiratis towards all UAE residents who have contributed to the process of development.

The Australian delegation expressed their admiration for the UAE’s development experience, which took place in a short span of time, as well as the country’s achievements and success in the fields of economy, trade and education. They emphasised the importance of continuing to develop the outstanding bilateral relations, and working on further bolstering them for the mutual benefit of both countries.
