Doha: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces left Qatar yesterday capping a brief fraternal visit to Qatar.
Shaikh Mohammad was seen off by Shaikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatari Crown Prince and a number of top Qatari officials.
Shaikh Mohammad had arrived on a short visit to Qatar yesterday. He was received on arrival by Shaikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Emir and Crown prince of Qatar in addition to other senior officials.
Shaikh Mohammad was accompanied by Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Amiri Flight Authority and other senior officials.
Peace efforts
Meanwhile, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed also received in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday night Tony Blair, envoy of the Middle East Peace Quartet, who is currently visiting the UAE as part of a tour of the region.
Shaikh Mohammad welcomed Blair and wished him success in his mission. He expressed his hope that Blair's efforts would contribute to boosting regional and international drive for attaining peace in the Middle East.
Shaikh Mohammad and his guest reviewed efforts being made to achieve peace in the region.
He praised the Quartet's role to revive the stalled peace process and its continuous efforts to realise aspirations of the Palestinian people in establishing their independent state on their national land in line with the international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace initiative.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Rashid Hareb Al Falahi, Director of the Foreign Minister's Office, Yousuf Mana Al Otaiba, Director of International Affairs at Shaikh Mohammad's Court and Edward Oakden, British Ambassador in the UAE.
Later, Shaikh Mohammad hosted a dinner in honour of Blair.
