Kuala Lumpur: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has donated $10 million to Permata Pintar National Foundation for Gifted Students in Malaysia.

Shaikh Mohammad made the donation as he visited the foundation, where he was received by Datin Paduka Seri Mansor, wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, and a number of officials. A number of students holding UAE flags welcomed Shaikh Mohammad at the foundation, which was set up by the Government of Malaysia at the National University of Malaysia's Campus in Bangi.

Mansor delivered a welcoming speech, saying that "the visit reflects the keenness of Sheikh Mohamed on education and development of human capital." She added that the education is a main factor behind the growth and welfare of Malaysia, noting that there is a need to develop innovative ideas to sponsor young gifted students.

"Based on this principle, we have established the early education programme and care for children in 2007 under the name "Permata Negara" which allows children under the age of five,
who belong to the families of the rural and urban low-income people, the opportunity to benefit from the distinctive and comprehensive learning environments," Mansor said.

To mark the arrival of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, the students exhibited their talents in a number of areas.

Shaikh Mohammad toured the foundation and expressed his admiration for the abilities of students, which he said reflect the sponsorship given to them by the foundation.
