Leaders pay last respects to late ruler of UAQ
His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, the new Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, will receive condolences on Sunday and Monday.

Umm Al Quwain: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, other rulers and senior officials on Saturday offered prayers for the late Shaikh Rashid Bin Ahmad Al Mualla at Umm Al Quwain's Grand Mosque.
Shaikh Rashid died in London on Friday. He was 77.
Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers, Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi of Sharjah, Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuami of Ajman, and Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi of Fujairah, also performed funeral prayers. Crown Princes and deputy rulers, senior officials and hundreds of UAE residents attended the funeral.
Shaikh Rashid was buried at the Umm Al Quwain cemetery.

Later, Shaikh Khalifa received condolences from King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait at the Palace of Umm Al Quwain's Ruler.
Receiving condolences alongside Shaikh Khalifa was His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla who on Friday became Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain. Performing the prayers and attending the funeral also were General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance.
Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler, Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Deputy Ruler of Ajman and Abdullah Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Deputy Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, and other Shaikhs and senior officials, were also present.

Seven days of official mourning
Earlier on Friday, a statement issued by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced the death of Shaikh Rashid and declared seven days of official mourning during which flags will fly at half mast.
Ministries and other government departments and institutions will close for three days and reopen on Monday.
Meanwhile, public and private schools in the UAE will remain open as per their normal schedule, the Ministry of Education announced on Saturday.
On Sunday, schools will resume as usual, the ministry confirmed.
However, in Umm Al Quwain, the emiri court announced a local mourning period of 40 days and local government offices will remain closed for one week, as of Friday.
The emiri court of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and other rulers of the emirates also mourned the death of Shaikh Rashid.
Statements announced that local government offices in Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman and Fujairah would remain closed for three days starting on Friday.
Shaikh Rashid Al Mualla, who was born in 1932, became ruler of Umm Al Quwain in February 1981 upon the death of his father.
Pioneer
He was one of the pioneers of the UAE Federation. On behalf of his father, he signed the provisional constitution of the UAE on December 2, 1971.
His first major post came in 1968 when he was appointed chief of the municipality. In his 27-year rule, he led the development of the tiny emirate of Umm Al Quwain. Shaikh Rashid was on Friday succeeded by his son Shaikh Saud.
The new ruler of Umm Al Quwain was born on October 1, 1952, and graduated in economics from Cairo University in 1974. He was appointed as crown prince in 1982.
