Abu Dhabi: The Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) strategy has been in operation for a year.

The authority was established in 2004 by virtue of federal decree no. (2) of 2004.

Director-general of EIDA Darwesh Al Zaraouni said the authority aimed to enhance the UAE's economic development through its population register programme.

It has set up an accurate centralised database consisting of the particulars and data of all UAE nationals and residents which were collected upon registration.
