Abu Dhabi: The Emirates Identity Authority (Emirates ID) has announced the beginning of the experimental operation of its new Sharjah registration centre in Al Rahmania area. The temporary registration centre that has been operating in Al Ta'awun area will be shut down on Wednesday.

Emirates ID has already notified customers with pre-appointments through SMS to visit its new centre in Al Rahmania to complete the registration procedures such as fingerprinting and photographing.

The new centre will have eight registration counters for males, and six for females in the trial phase. The number of counters will be increased gradually depending on the number of customers before the centre is officially open and fully operational.

The new centre is located near interchange No. 6, next to the Directorate of Human Resources in Al Zaid Street. It is the largest Emirates ID registration centre in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The building has two floors and is designed to accommodate more than 26 registration lines (16 for males and 10 for females), capable of registering more than 2,600 people a day from 7am  to 8.30pm.

The registration process in the centre is handled by UAE nationals with proven efficiency and professionalism. The centre also has the latest equipment and devices capable of providing superior facilities and services to customers, in addition to special arrangements for people with disabilities.

The new centre also includes a prayer room and a cafe for the convenience of customers and staff. More than 250 parking spaces are provided for customers alone.

Relocating from the temporary centre in Al Ta'awun to the new premises is part of Emirates ID's ongoing efforts to upgrade its facilities across the country to provide quality experience to customers.

Emirates ID has urged customers to visit the registration centres at the appointed time so that they can complete the registration procedures comfortably in less than 10 minutes. Appointments can be rescheduled through the Emirates ID call centre.
