Abu Dhabi: The Emirates World Heart Group has launched humanitarian missions in Sudan, Egypt and Bosnia to provide treatment to needy heart patients particularly children and elderly people.
A group of world renowned heart surgeons alongside Emirati specialists in the field will perform heart surgeries in collaboration with health ministries and university hospitals in these countries with the coordination of the World Heart Foundation under the framework of the Humanitarian Giving Initiative.
According to Dr Adel Al Shamri, chief executive of the Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital and head of the Emirates Mobile Cardiology Centre, the campaign aims to provide the best diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical and preventive services for heart patients in addition to organising a series of meetings and training courses to develop the skills of medical staff working in these countries.
He added that the group has introduced the latest technology for carrying out heart surgery in many countries in the first-of-its-kind experience to enable heart patients to benefit from new technologies in a cardiac surgery, besides imparting surgeons with the knowledge by equipping them with new skills according to the latest international standards.
He added that the current campaign comes as a completion for the humanitarian missions that have been carried out in many countries benefiting thousands of heart patients particularly children and elderly people. More than 3,000 heart surgeries have been conducted in the UAE, Morocco, Kenya, Eritrea, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Indonesia, Tanzania, Pakistan, Somalia, Egypt, Sudan and Bosnia.
